I got my replacement 8330 from veriZon yesterday and did the device swap and so the new device has the same setup as the old. I noticed the new one has more memory (40 million bytes vs 32) but the phone is a little more laggier. Is there a design change or doe models just vary by individual their speed and memory???

You probably got a newer model. I did too. And idk where your getting your numbers from, but they don't look very accurate to me. It should be around 95 million on a curve. I have the same model for verizon

The numbers would be accurate if the OP is posting their file free memory, not the actual RAM. Sounds about right for a new Curve out of the box.

Laggy may be related to your browser configuration. If you have Javascript enabled, or Style Sheets turned on, you will see a slower browser.

    I was posting free memory...
They both have 8330/4.5.0.138 running and have the same everything else. I will check the browser configs. The only difference I see is that the previous phone was a refurb and this one I am pretty sure was new. The buttons feel different.

ESN Curves and MEID Curves run the same-numbered OSes, but there are differences in the software, hence the warnings that they cannot be loaded on the other versions.

The only differences I now notice is BBM 5.0 is not on the new phone. Could that be the reason the memory is higher on the new phone???

Look in Options / Advanced Options / Applications. BBM 5's version number is 5.0.0.33 on my Tour. Non 5 versions will have a 4.x version number.

I didn't mean you could not get BBM5. I was just answering your question, which was how to tell which version you have. My 9630 came with 4.7; I upgraded it to 5.0.0.33 by going to App World. It's free.

If you want to upgrade to the 5.0 BBM, here's a link without having to download App World.

My phone says I have BBM 5.0.0.33 and blackberry 4.5.0 for some reason. When I open BBM it is definitley 4.5. Thats weird. Also definitley this phone is an MEID phone and the other was an ESN. When in a message you shou be able to type MYVER and your OS should show up but mine does not. This phone is working, but since I did a device swap from an ESN to an MEID, do I need to make any changes?
