You need to download and install the same OS (4.2.2)that is on your device on to your pc as well as whatever version of the Desktop Manager you want to install. You need to install both.

Download the OS from your carriers site:

thanks it works now but it just did a update now its takin a long time to come back on is that normal?

You need to download and install the same OS (4.2.2)that is on your device on to your pc as well as whatever version of the Desktop Manager you want to install. You need to install both.

I'll add that you need to install a version of Desktop Manager that is either the same or a NEWER version than the os. So I'm on 4.5.5.52 operating software and 4.5 DM, but I believe that the new Desktop Manager 4.6 will also work with my phone. However, DM 4.2 won't work properly with a Blackberry running os 4.5.

Hello all..
I just installed 4.3 Desktop Manager (from the Verizon CD) last night.
On my curve, I have 4.3.0.127 (as I found from Advanced Options)

So, far, synching works OK using Outlook 2003.

It seems to work fine for now although I haven't synched music/images yet.

Q: Is there any advantage of DL-ing and installing Desktop Manager 4.5 from the blackberry.com site?

Will DM 4.2 Service Pack 2 work with OS 4.2.2

The issue with DTM is not which device you are using, but which version of Windows you are using.

Windows 2000/ME/98SE are the earliest that BlackBerry supports. v4.1 is able to install on the older boxes. v4.2 on the later version.

Windows XP supports DTM v4.3.

Windows Vista supports DTM v4.5.

Once you have the DTM software, you will need to install device operating system software.

This may be confusing because the version numbers are nearly the same.

v4.2.xx Device Software was shipped on the current generation of Pearl and Curves.

v4.3.xx Device Software was shipped on the later generation Curve 8330.

v4.5.xx Device Software is being developed as a mid life software refresh for the existing Pearl and Curve devices.

v4.6.xx Will ship with Bold.
