T-Mo customer service has always been helpful and I never EVER dropped a call, My iPhone with AT&T dropped calls like theres no tomorrow.

So far so good here... Been with AT&T/Cingular since 1997, service is service (no real complaints), the phone is awesome,,, so far. Had a Pear before and now the 8310 Curve, I wanted the GPS. Haven't had much of a chance to use it but I am looking forward to it. I hope it works well? I bought it for the GPS, larger screen, and keyboard. As it has been mentioned, I have 30 days to test drive it.

I have had my Curve for about 3 weeks and T-mobile is my carrier. I live in Houston, TX and I get a large amount of dropped calls . T-moble 's answer is to set the phone to turn itself off say at 3:00 a.m. and set to turn back on at 3:03 a.m. to reset everything. I have done this and may have helped some, but still had 2 dropped calls yesterday. I know other people with Tmobile with regular phons and they rarely experience dropped calls, so I tend to think I may have a bad phone or this is common with T-Mobile Blackberry's in Houston market. anyone with same problem is Houston?

If any of you can help me this could make me love the blackberry too

So, I got my blackberry a few weeks ago and am very disappointed. I used one in Australia and fell in love. But when I got back to America and bought my own I was shocked out how poorly it worked. In Australia, I used a blackberry curve w/ an at&t carrier. So, that is what I got.
However, I am finding it takes forever to load anything. Sometimes, the hourglass appears when I am not even doing anything. I am really frustrated.

    My problems are these
    1. I can't see any of my sent sms, mms, or emails.... I have it set to NOT hide them but idk it like deletes them.
2.It takes forever to load...to disconnect from a call, to open anything etc.

could the facebook application be doing this or having two email accounts set up on my phone? other than that I have not really changed anything on my phone. I have hide some applications so my homescreen is not so cluttered. But idk. I was even thinking of getting an iphone and I hate those b/c their internet browser takes forever to load and their touch screen keyboard is hard to use.

    please-help me

Help- you have the famous memory problem
There are many posts about this. Basically you've used up the devices internal memory.
    Go to options-status-file free
Delete whatever you don't use (pictures, apps, whatever)
Buy a sd card and put all your pictures and media there(set the camera to save pics on the sd card!)
Free up like 10 to 15 megs
And then do a battery pull
    Good luck!

I live an hour north of New York city, and a friend of mine has a curve on T-Mo and gets no service for a ten mile radius! I had Verizon and thought their reception was good, until I got a Curve 8310 from AT&T, and I have service in places I never had with Verizon. As the old Verizon ad used to say, "Your cell phone is only as good as the service it's on"

I am rather a noob myself, so if the advice doesn't seem to fit, don't think it is coming from a pro. Every time I have had a problem it has been because I messed something up on the phone. Usually it was by trying to install or uninstall something that really shouldn't have been there in the first place.

To solve these problems, I made sure I had enough memory (check settings>status to tell). If there wasn't enough memory, a soft reset usually did the trick (press the backspace key while holding the alt key and right shift key).

If there was enough memory, I would resend my service books. Sign into your BIS account https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=mycingular and resend the service books to your phone.

When I really messed up and didn't know what to do, I would backup the contents of the phone to my computer, do a wipe of the blackberry, reload everything off the backup, then resend the service books.

One interesting thing that happens (sometimes) when I do this is that it will turn off the "radio". Make sure you check that your radio is on if you do a wipe and reinstall. Your radio settings can be checked under the "Manage Connections" icon.

Hope something in this post will help.

I'm in Houston as well, but I'm using an 8800 on the ATT network. I don't have any noticeable problems with dropped calls.

Now, there are several areas around town where I've had problems with all the cellphones I've had, possibly due to the towers and interference.

The last time I had real problems with a phone was a 3g phone that would'nt pick up the towers in a certain area of town I worked in. It did turn out to be the device itself that was defective.

The problem I have most is from time to time I have to take my battery out and reset my BB because it either won't connect to the internet or I notice I'm not getting any emails during the day. Once I do that, it runs fine for a while.

    Good luck neighbor.

Because of my personal case of mobile-phone OCD...I have been thinking about other phones lately (even going back to the iPhone)...but I can't really think of any mobile device that has satisfied me like the BlackBerry Curve.

Does it have the sheer media presentation and "wow" factor of the UI like some other (ie: iPhone) devices...no. But, as a communication specialist that happens to have a great mobile phone function (unlike the iPhone)...it has no peers. The reception and signal-capture, at least in my travels in the midwest, Arkansas, and into my home state of Texas, is nothing short of incredible. There are spots that every phone I've ever owned before has dropped calls...and the BlackBerry hangs onto the call, better than even the $900 Nokias I've had in the past. Incoming call quality and volume...including speakerphone volume, is top notch as well.

It's simple to use after you learn the OS. It is ultra-reliable, with no freezing and very rare occasions when I have to do a battery pull (unlike Windows Mobile phones)...and it just plain works!

    What else could you want...really?

I can't say my eyes and thoughts don't stray to other makes and models...but I doubt that I'll leave the BlackBerry camp again anytime soon.

    <Hijack thread for rant on>

I'm still trying to get over my addition to Windows media and the ability to see You Tube or anything I want to see on my old Mobile PC phone I had.

I have settled for the good email push and the calander/agenda alarms keeping me abreast of my appointments, but I still miss the wide open availability of being able to see media or open attachments. (without having to purchase and download additional software, a phone costing as much as the BB's do, should already have.)
They already sell a good deal of phones, but if someone up there would open his or her mind and stuff the BlackBerry with a multimedia program that could accept WMA and Flash just to name a few, they would sell even more units. They keep saying they have noticed their phones arent just being purchased for business, but for personal use. Don't just add a camera and think that will do.

    sorry

8310 on ATT. Love it. Much better than the T700wx or MotoQ on VZW. One battery pull in 5 months, maybe two dropped calls and those were in known crappy reception areas. Travel extensively with it (in holster). Sorry to hear you're having problems. My boss & her hubby have Pearls on TMob & ATT in Plano/Dallas and love them. No reception problems for me at corporate in Dallas (LBJ Fwy) with ATT.
