Forgive me if this has been previously addressed, please. When I saw over 1k pages of threads, I figured a re-post was worth the risk.

So, I'm a fairly new BB owner. A friend gave me his 8330 when he upgraded, and I'm loving it.

My question may seem odd, but I have trouble playing many Youtube videos. I am a musician, and I often need to hit youtube to get a quick refresher on certain songs.

Often, I will click a "watch video" link, my media player will open, and the screen will say "video is of unsupported format", or something to that effect.

The rub is, sometimes I will watch the video 3 times or more with no issue, then suddenly it is "unsupported format" and I am unable to open it again.

I am on Verizon, if that has any bearing on it.

Does anyone else have this issue, or am I alone?

I'm finding if I do a "battery pull", I can play a song once. Then it's back to unsupported format.

It seems to be getting more pervasive. I searched a tune today, and went thru about 10 versions before I got one to work.

Alright, now I've officially had it. I've tried every "fix" I've read about. Nothing works.

As of this afternoon, I cannot get a single youtube file to play.

I see no reason to keep my "data package" with verizon for this thing if I can't do the things I need it to do.

Other than phone and text, why am I paying an extra 40-50 bucks a month? Totally ridiculous.

Luckily, my contract is up in february. But I won't be dealing with this issue until then. I'll find a suitable replacement that actually works.

Additionally, I googled "blackberry curve youtube issue" and there are a bazillion results. Obviously, this is a major problem.

I have a 8330 but mines with boost. I don't have any problem with youtube. Its any other videos off of any other site that I can't play. The same unsupported video message pops up. Its some kind of setting in the phone that has to be doing it because when I first got it I didn't have that problem.

I watch youtube videos frequently and almost never encounter the problem. I don't think it's a problem with the 8330 in general.

I have read numerous posts about youtube not working regardless of device model. The common factor seems to be Verizon. I have an 8330 w/Sprint. Never had but a hiccup with youtube and depending on my location have always been able to view them in HQ mode in full screen.

Hey folks. Just wondering if anybody has gotten "player error 6". It would act like it was about to play and then nothing. Tried the xenozu player and same issue. Would sometimes play a video and then crash. Most times just crash. Could it be a memory issue? I have so much stuff on my phone that I normaly have less than 1 mb free but it happens even after a hard reset (battery pull). About to try the bolt browser. Hope that helps.

Well, here's a twist to the story.

I went friday night to make my bill payment (bill was paid on time, btw), and viola, youtube works again. Including a few larger size website pages that I couldn't access for a week or so.

Wondering if Verizon has an cap on data usage, and does something to block streaming video when you get close to that cap? It would explain a lot, since, like I said, a couple of larger webpages refused to load also.

In the interim, I discovered vuclip, and it actually works pretty great. If you're having the same issues, I encourage you to check it out.

Anyone have any thoughts on the Verizon data cap theory?
