It would sure be nice if i could hook up my phone to a computer with an internet connection with the usb cable and be able to use the internet connection from that computer as if the phone had wireless networking capabilities.

Then I could use the phone here while I:m in Japan and Korea.

are you asking about using the bb as a modem?
if so thats possible, just do a search for that on crackberry.com or google. i use my 8100 that way all the time

u can, but u need to have an internet access plan besides the blackberry internet plan. Essentially, most providers have 3 internet plans

1. GPRS (wap)
2. Advanced GPRS (full internet)
3. BB Internet Service

To use as a modem you need 2 and 3 both active.

no actually what i mean is i would like to use my phone in Japan but because it has no 3g, i can:t use it here. so it would be nice if i could use my data plan over regular internet just by hooking it up to a computer that has internet access

computer time is expensive in japan, so i:d just rather be able to use the bb like normal, except send everything at once when i hook it up to a computer. It:s a complicated exception case. heh
