I have sent a couple MP3 attachments to my Verizon 8310 and can't open them. It says "an unknown error has been encountered"

So is there a secret to sending a 40 second MP3 to a Verizon 8310 from Outlook that I need to know? Or a suggestion.

I think you need to check your models. Verizon has an 8330, the 8310 is a GSM phone.

You are right. Actually I am asking about this for my daughter who has a Verizon (8330) and I have the 8310 ergo my mistake. But the issue is still there. When I send it to my 8310 it works fine but she gets the message above when I send it to her.
