I have a 8330 v4.5.0.186 and when I plug my bberry into the aux jack in my car I get appx half volume and sound only in the lef t speaker. I also have a 3.5mm to stereo RCA plug that I have tried and no dice on the home stereo either. The really goofy thing is that when I plug a set of headphones (regulare stereo headphones not bb headset) it works great. Any ideas?

Have you tried another 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable? They are notoriously pretty cheap. Maybe the one you have has something wrong with it?

Have you changed the housing lately? When I had a 8330 people were reporting aux jack problems after changing the housing.
