ok... so i love my curve... however i love the 8830 trackball compared to my curve.. its alot more smoother and firm.... so i know you can buy replacement parts like the trackball and the silver ring around it.... but can i buy a 8830 trackball and silver ring and change it on my 8330? i want to know if anyone has tried it or thinks it will work.. also is it the same size? Thanks in advance!!

I will tell you that the quality of the buttons are not the same feel nor the track ball, 8830 to 8330. I do love my new Curve tho lol

Take a tiny screw driver and pop off the chrome ring around the track ball. There are 3 tabs holding it in place. then the trackball pops out just by turning the phone over. Just remember the tabs are located on the left, right and on the bottom of the chrome finisher piece

I actually think that my 8330 has a nicer trackball than any of my 8830's ever had.

where do you get 8830 trackballs? when i go to cnn.cn, they have trackballs, but it looks like they're for 81xx/83xx/88xx models, but not for the specific 8830.

also, when i was at the verizon store the other day, i realized that on their model phones, the trackball doesn't make this clicky noise when i move them, but mine does. i did check the setting and the audible roll is set at mute. do i have a weird phone?

The trackball for the 88xx device is what you need for your 8830!!

As for the "cliky noise"; that is normal

I have used the 8830 and the 8330. All I can say is that the trackball on both of the 8330s I have used feel like crap compared to both of the 8330s I have used. (yes, I have tried 2 of each model)

The 8330 makes a cheap noise when you use the trackball whereas the 8830 is much smoother and heavier feeling. Is this what you noticed?

I just bought an 8330 and find the trackball slow and awkward. I hate it and wondering if I need a touch phone afterall. Did replacing the trackball make a big difference? I'd like to keep this phone for the other wonderful features.

Are there other users who've found a way to use this trackball without so much frustration?
    Thanks

My 8330 trackball is usable, but quality just doesn't seem up to par with the 8830s I have used.
