I have had my 8330 for less than a week and I've learned how to set ringtones, but is there an option to assign mp3 sounds to other functions, such as message alert and turning off/on the BB? If so, how is it done? Thanks.

I will surmise/assume you wish to change the "Normal (Active)" profile, so :

Profiles>Advanced (You have to scroll to the bottom of the list)>Click Trackball>(Scroll to select the Profile you wish to edit)>Click Trackball>Click item you wish to change (for example SMS Text)>Click the feature you wish to change.

Sounds complicated, but it's real easy.
