    That sound is required by law. So you can't take a pic of something or someone secretly. Like a hot chick in a dressing room say.

    Not in America. There are plenty of phones you can buy that let you disable it.

    I really wish there was a way to do this. I just got this curve yesterday but not being able to silence the shutter is a really big turn off :-/

    GSM BlackBerrys generally have the capability to silence the shutter. The only CDMA BlackBerry with that ability at this writing is the Tour. There is a work-around with the 8330 that involves calling your voice mail and taking the picture, but it doesn't completely silence the shutter.

    BerryAnnoying works on the Tour, but not on any other CDMA phone, as I noted in my previous post.

    i do not think there are any laws that say the phone has to make the noise, my last phone didn't make any noise, also my digital camera can be silent, whats the difference?
