If you delete prior emails, it eliminates the call log. Is there any way to save call logs for a longer period of time?

Go to Call Log - Options - Call Logging and set Show These Call Types to None. That will remove them from your messages list so that they don't get deleted when you delete all prior in the Messages folder.
