I'm having this same issue.

I'm able to pair two bluetooth-enabled phones on the same network (Sprint).

Address Book Sharing enabled.
Object Push enabled.

I can send contact information, but I can not receive. Sending from the other phone gives them the error message "Connection Failed!" The blue, Bluetooth indicator light on the BB flashes once when this happens so I know the two devices are communicating *something.*

I'm wondering if there's some security-based permissions setting that needs to be set to allow the receipt of contact information.

If anyone has answers, I'd be happy to hear them.

Is the OBEx (Object Exchange) bluetooth profile supported by your handset? I am not sure if all BB's on all networks support this feature or not. For example I know VZW disables it on many phones, as they did with GPS on their BB's....grrrr.

You can't bluetooth contacts; the only things you can bluetooth are videos, music, ringtones, & photos.

Why is that? Its not letting me send/recv anything from my Instinct. This is making me wonder if I will have issues with other BT devices.
