I installed the Blackberry desktop software on my computer but my computer still doesn't recognize the blackberry! As a result of this I cannot access any media files or sync them to my computer! This is really frustrating!

Well, to sync the media files, go to options/memory and make sure mass storage is enabled. That allows you to use the memory card like a regular usb thumb drive so you can copy the contents and paste to the computer's hard drive.
As to how to make the computer recognize it, you're not plugged into a USB hub are you? Try plugging directly into the computer's ports and try multiple ports. Do other things work when connected to the ports you're trying to use?
