I currently have US Cellular which kinda sux but their aight since their phone selection has gotten better over the past year and a half (used to be one of the worst out there) and they have really good customer service. So since the best smartphone currently carried by US Cellular in the RIM ballpark is the Blackberry Curve 8330, that's what I went with when I upgraded on 12/29/08. But I'm not stupid as far as technology goes and I am a little concerned about how outdated my device will become over the next one and a half to two years. Surprisingly, USCC is a little ahead of Sprint (I think) in that we actually have BB OS 4.5.0.66. However, I know that the new OS for keyboard Blackberries is what's on the Bold and upcoming Curve 89xx --- OS 4.6. Nextel recently released a 83xx Curve with OS 4.6 so I was wondering if my Curve, the 8330, will get this update or not. That is the most important thing I am asking about today, but I also would like to ask if RIM usually does such updates for older devices, like have they in the past (I mean I know it's not even old because it is still sold with like every carrier but RIM is currently transitioning to newer models). Also, I was having a little trouble reassuring myself of my purchase...my other option would have been a Moto Q9c....please help reassure me (no WinMo bashing ). So once again... 4.6... is it gonna happen?

i think your talking about 4.5 thats the latest upgrade for the 8330

I'm pretty sure he's referring to the new 8350i from NEXTEL, and yes it does have a 4.6 OS. I'm not sure if RIM will release an update for the older curves to 4.6 but I have heard of a rumor of possibly a ver. 5.0 OS for our curves.

ok... so how long of a wait am i looking at if rim does release a 4.6 or 5.0 update for my 8330? and i'm sorry for any confusion (johnprimo78) but i realize that 4.5 is the latest for our 83xx blackberries but i was wondering about os 4.6 (for bold, new curve 89xx, and iDEN Curve 83xx)

5.0 has been rumored to come this Spring I believe..don't quote me but I believe I read that on this board...again just a rumor. It wouldn't suprise me if it took until late this year or early 2010. But I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
