Once again, some good info from the Boy Genius

Well, low and behold, in the long wait for more and more information to trickle in about the BlackBerry 8300, it appears that we have a formal name for the device's release. In spirit of the BlackBerry 8100 having a consumer-friendly alias with the BlackBerry Pearl, the BlackBerry 8300, which is set to merge the business and consumer worlds of BlackBerry, is apparently named the BlackBerry Curve.

www.BlackBerry8300.com, which was recently purchased by RIM from private holdings, now redirects to www.BlackBerryCurve.com, although it's nothing more than a blank placeholder page. The new website's domain record reflects that of Register.com, Inc., RIM's domain registrar of choice. The DNS redirect would not be possible without RIM's authorization, so I think it's safe to assume this as the new name. I kind of like it. Now, who thinks that RIM will announce the BlackBerry 8300 or BlackBerry Curve at WES 2007? I sure do.

Sorry guys Although I am with you!

This is the one I have been waiting for although I still hold out hopes for a new device with my wonderful clickwheel - now that is idiotic--I know

This one does look cool! Love that BoyGenius's information!

Also, I like the name Curve much better than 8300.

Love the BG's information too, but in this case it was actually MiBlackBerry.com who broke this story. Gotta give credit where credit is due!

albeit the redirect does not work, the link still works: http://www.blackberrycurve.com/, i.e. it takes you to a blank page, no error message...

So the "Curve" does NOT have the global network ability that the new 8830s by Verizon will have, right?

The Curve is Quad-Band GSM, and will be just as global if not more.

phew... a relief! With no wi-fi and then lack of Quad-Band GSM...that would have been disappointing....great relief on the QB GSM

The lack of wi-fi is disappointing to me. Haven't decided if i'll get this first 8300 that comes out, or wait for T-Mobile to release theirs... hopefully with wi-fi.
