hey there crackberry users! so i recently heard the trackballs "click" will stop working from dust/lint built up under the contact of the motherboard from putting it in your jean pocket. so i was just wondering if its alright if i keep it in my coat jacket. now i know this is a stupid question but the berry i got right now is my 4th one and my year warrenty just recently ended. thanks.
yes, it is bad to put it in ur pocket. my friend's trackball on hers stopped working all together. i think its cause its big and when u put it in ur jeans pocket, the trackball rubs up against the material and lint and stuff gets caught in it. your coat pocket should be a safer place since i'm sure it is not a tight of space.

I do not keep mine in my pocket for that very reason. Turn the pocket inside out and whatever you see will be playing with your BB each time you move. The little nook and crannies I fear will fill with lint and all sorts of other stuff, no thanks.
I use a holster and if I have too I will put it in a case/shell but I have not needed too yet.....
I think that the question isn't so much "is it alright if i keep it in my coat jacket?" but rather more, "How linty are your pockets?" lol!! Seriously though, I wouldn't. I've had friends that have had to get completely new phones (I don't know what model theirs was, but it was BB), because they had so much crud in the keyboard/trackball/etc.
I use a holster and that keeps most of the dirt and such out of my track ball. Do the same, or else your going to be having to take it apart and cleaning it more often.
contrary to what people think is best, I always put mine in my pocket. Once a week or so ill take the trackball out, since it takes 30 seconds and just give it a little blow and boom, its good to go! Never a problem here!

Is that a difficult process? Would do you use to blow it out?
it is VERY simple. the silver ring pops off, you start it at the top near the screen and slowly pry. there are 3 clips, they sit at 3,6,9 (if you think of a clock) and once that pops off the trackball will come right out.
I just blow with my mouth, doesnt take much, i dont have much dust accumulation to be honest. i think its more the people that show neglect and dont clean it out regularly that run into issues.

I just put mine in the leather sleeve thingy it came with, then in my pants or jacket pocket
I live with me original leather sleeve...I got some silicone case Im trying right now but it picks up too much stuff and looks bulky in my dress slacks...so +1 for the original leather case
I usually wear some kind of cargo pant or painters pant, and just slide the phone in one of the side pockets, and I haven't had a problem yet... I haven't cleaned out my trackball yet either, but it's probably something that i ought to think about doing just so I know how.
there are 3 little clips on the silver ring. just pop off the silver part and you are good!
I mean the clips that hold the trackball in place once its out? It seems in the video that the poster used his finger nail to pop the aluminum ring...?
