I really wanted to get the iphone 3gS however, after playing with an iphone and determining that this phone would cost be an additional 50 bucks per mth. I decided that I can not pass up my curve! I think I just need to spruce it up a bit!

I've been looking at the becky mae housing's and I've been reading all day about them. I've also read about dying the trackball. Okay so off to the local store I go and an hour later my track ball is a pretty orange and I'm trying to get it back together.....fast forward another two hours and a lot of swear words and I have no trackball. Off I go to the sprint store (40min away) for a new trackball (I could never be without my berry for 24hrs).

I did not read about this horror story anywhere in the treads I read. Thus I can draw the conclusion I must be challenged when it comes to phone repair. I've now placed an order for an orange trackball.

I would really like a blue housing however, I've yet to read of the horror stories of replacing your housing.....Please let me know before I ruin a phone.........

If you watch the youtube video on how to disassemble your device, you shouldn't have any problems replacing it! Just know that changing it will void your warranty!

Also, you can order colored trackballs from cnn.cn or eBay.

We watched the youtube videos and had no trouble changing the housing to white. I know several have gone through Becky Mae and I'm not knocking her. I got my white housing complete with tools and shipping for $28.00 off ebay.

I've never changed my own housing but if you read around on this site you well come across good and bad experiences with it. Some have changed their housings and had no problems at all while others have changed their housing and afterward the headset jack stopped working. Another problem some people have come across is breaking or stripping the screws. As long as you take your time and don't over tighten the screws you shouldn't have any problems there.

Another thing you should be aware about is that changing your housing does void the warranty (if you are still under the 1 year mark.)

Here are a few different threads with different housing experiences:

There are people with good experiences and bad ones.. I would say if you can't risk ruining a phone.. don't do it.

Personally, I've had no problems switching my housings back and froth.
