Bear with me. I am sure this has been asked and answered before, but couldn't find it with forum search.

I currently own an 8310 and will be upgrading to Bold 9700 (yay)!
My daughter would love to have my 8310, but being a college student cannot afford the data plan.

Just wondering if passing my 8310 to her would do her any good without a data plan? Currently she is on the family plan with AT&T.

    Thanks
    tc

Don't know about AT&T. I'm running an 8120 on a T-Mobile family plan without a data plan and have not had any problems.

As of Sept 2009, AT&T requires a data plan for smartphones and BlackBerry devices activated on their network.
