RESOLVED IN BELOW RESPONCE
Not my first go around here but this has me stumped.

I use my BBDM (BB Desktop Manager) everyday.

Today it asked me to do my weekly scheduled backup (b/c we all do backups right?)

I used my nice desktop cradle and go.

Wrong, after starting the backup and selecting the file location to save, I get a window titled
"Communication Link Refused"
with text of
"Could not establish communication with the device. A required application is missing from the device."

The link works, I can access the BB as a drive on the computer but I guess I am missing something on the phone?

Any ideas?
what I am missing?
How do I get it on the phone if the BBDM will not recognize the phone?

Have you tried a battery pull and connect to the DM after the reboot?

Thanks tyroni, I did the battery pull and it did not work, so I rebooted my office, eveything and it worked.

Ok not really, I had to leave the batt out for about 10min and then it worked, I think I was in a hurry the first batt pull so I let it set and it works fine, but I did reboot the computer as well.
