May I safely delete service books, such as facebook, from my BB Curve? I'm not a facebook user. Will doing this negatively affect my Curve?

You can delete the service book, but if it's a pushed shortcut from Alltel, it will most likely come back.

It is safe to delete them if youy don't use it.. But if its pushed service book from your carrier it will keep coming back everytime your phone is turned off then on
