I just installed Autolock on my 8310 but its still disabled.

Before I enable it, is there anything special like a password or PIN I need to set so I can get back into my keypad after Autolock locks it?

I didn't see anything like it under Options > Autolock

No. You just have to hit the asterisk key followed by the phone key to unlock it. Essentially, autolock just activates the standard BB lock file whenever the screen goes black.

OK, I enabled Autolock, and rebooted but * phone isn't locking my keyboard.

I must be doing something wrong: I hit Alt-A to get *, then I hit the green phone button, but that just brings up my dial menu with an error that I entered a non-phone number.

    What's up with that?

you don't press * to lock your keyboard. You must press the letter K if you have home screen dialing disabled.

Autolock doesn't lock your phone by pressing * phone. It locks it when your screen goes black from inactivity. The length of time before the screen goes black can be set in the options area of your curve. To unlock, that is when you use * phone.
