- Wow, call me old fashioned (at 25), but what in the world does a 14 year old need a BB with data plan? Well, other than what's being discussed on this thread...
I got my first cell phone at age 17 I think, smartphone after a couple years of college (and missing classes b/c I didn't have a
calendar), data plan a couple years ago. Carry some quarters around, payphones aren't ancient reliques, they do work
(God help my son when he gets older)
But yes, this thread is outta control, but funny lol! Thanks for the laughs guys.

Heck, in all reality kids that age barely need a cell phone, but I know times are changing from just the 90's, or earlier 2000's. I see elementary school kids with cell phones and I ask, why? I know they have phones that will call only 1 or 2 different numbers, so if you want to be connected to your kids thats the way to go. But it's become such a common household item and status item, 3rd graders think they are losers if they don't have one... I know how things are and I'm sure my kid will get one a whole lot sooner than I did, but he's got to be able to walk first at least
Times are really different now and some children exhibit responsibilities better than others.
That being said--age is not the issue here but how that individual is raised, are they intelligent, do they catch onto things quickly.
Of course you or anyone else is not going to hand a $300 to $500 device to a pre-teen and say have at it.
But it would be nice to keep our future developers/programmers etc. up to date on the latest technologyjust a thought.
Just use good judgment and realize its not the 90s anymore.08-06-08 02:32 PMLike 0
