I searched the forums and I been getting mixed answers. I just have a simple question.

How exact is the GPS on a Blackberry Curve 8310 using google maps?

I should be getting my phone tomorrow, and I was just curious. I got a pearl now and using the cell phone tower stuff, and it's pretty cool, but I hope GPS is more exact.

Mine works great. It is always within 3 meters of my actual location but I here others says that theirs is within 1700 meters.

Mine works great as well and usually get 3 meters of my actual position. Sometimes it gets to 100 meters when I am driving around and I am just watching the screen refresh.

My Pearl on the other hand since it did not have built in GPS on it, had a range of 1700 meters and my actual location wouldn't even be in the range given to me.

With the GPS, it's usually within 3 to 5.5 meters of my position. When it says 1300 meters, 1400 meters, 1700 meters etc...it's triangulating you based off your cell signal, meaning the GPS is NOT connected to any satellites.

Yea mine is mostly always withing 3 meters. I've seen 1300+ meters before but it's not for long, it only says that til it gets satellite signal.

It'll display it at the bottom of the screen so you'll know when it happens.

Mine too is typically within 3 meters. If I ever get the 1700 meter loc I just refresh the GPS and presto back to 3 meters
