My company got us all sprint curves but then a few months later decided sprint sucks and got us all new curves (8310) from cell 1. so I hear they will offer them to us for $50.
Q: is it worth it to buy it
Q: what uses are there for it with no service.

They are very limited without service. I've got an 8830 with just wifi and hardly anything works without the data connection thru cell service.

They sell rather well on eBay and such. I bet you could sell it for twice that price.

The 8330 is a more capable device than the 8310, so you could turn around and sell it quite easily, there are people that would help you double your money or better for a nice used Curve. Average for one in nice shape is around $150 or more. Not a waste, for a clean device.
