I know its possible to sync your contacts with the outlook contacts, but like most of us, I don't get on my pc much anymore, is there any way contacts can be backed up to my sd card?

I'm not aware of any way to backup anything to the Media Card. I did a search and found a number of threads that all say the same thing. The second one below might give you some alternative ideas.
