- I've done this in both Roxio Media Manager and Windows Media Player, but in both cases it copies the *songs*, whereas I want it to copy the *playlist*. I've tried copying the actual 2kb *.wpl file in both programs but it just copies the songs (sometimes even making duplicates) but the playlist itself is not copied. Also tried copying the playlist file in Windows My Computer but I'm not sure where in the Curve to put said file. Tried the Music folder but no joy. :-(
Creating the playlist on the blackberry itself is something I wouldn't wish on anyone.

The best way is to ditch Roxio. It is a horrible piece of software.
A better way is to connect your phone to your PC and to use Mass Media Mode on your Media Card. If you do not have a card then you need one.
Goto Options, Media Card and with the Media Card installed, goto Options, Media Card and set
Media Card Support: On
Encryption Mode: None
Mass Storage Mode Support: On
Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode When Connected: Prompt
Now when you connect your phone to the PC (provided DM is installed). The phone will prompt you to enable Mass Storage Mode. Select Yes and the Media Card will show up in My Computer and then you can Drag 'n Drop your files to the correct places on the Media Card.
Now you can drag and drop any file you want to and from your PC just as if it were a USB disk.06-24-08 12:38 PMLike 0 - Welcome to Crackberry.

As long as the song is already on the phone only a tiny text file (the "wpl" file) is necessary for the phone to know what songs to play and in what order. If the playlist included songs that were not on the phone yet it would just skip to the next title.

Bob06-24-08 02:46 PMLike 0 - Pete6Retired ModeratorYes, I've tried all 3 ways... The problem isn't getting the music onto the Curve, it's getting the Curve to recognize and show the playlist *files* (usually with .wpl extension) and show them in the Media Player's playlist selections on the phone. It's infinitely easier and more elegant and faster to make playlists in wmp than on the phone.

Bob06-24-08 06:27 PMLike 0 - Actually, after playing a bit more with Roxio, I can create a playlist in Roxio by New Playlist-> Drag files from Folders in Roxio playlist Right Pane-> Drag *playlist* from left Pane to Media in right Pane.
Clear as mud I know, you'd probably have to be looking at the interface to see what I mean. It shows in the playlist on the Curve. The final drag I did was diagonal (Could be top left to bottom right or bottom left to top right depending on how your panes are arranged). I want to see if I can get this to work in WMP 11, as that's where I make my playlists in the first place.
Bob06-24-08 06:41 PMLike 0 - Okay, here's one. I dumped some songs from my iTUnes folder the other day straight into my Curve with zero problems.
Tonight, when I go to dump some more songs - some of them different cuts from the SAME album - I get "cannot copy ___song___. The directory or file cannot be created.'
Any ideas? I'm using a junker of a computer with a hard drive that's almost full, could that be the problem? Plenty of room on the 2GB card, also.
thx for any suggestions.

John06-25-08 07:29 PMLike 0 - Did anyone ever figure out a way to transfer over *.wpl files and get them to work on the 8320 without using Roxio? I would really like to be able to take my playlists and move them over.
I will carve the playlists in a stone tablet with my two front teeth (no, I don't wear dentures) before I will use Roxio again. I don't think I have ever hated a piece of software that badly. Oh wait, there was the early versions of AOL software running on my P90 (with 32 mb ram) and my brand new, super high tech, just released, $250.00 33.6 baud modem. Wow am I old!
Nash07-26-08 06:49 PMLike 0 - I am having this exact problem. I can create the playlists in the upper left panels of Media Manager. When I drag the playlists down to the Music folder under My Devices in the lower left panel, the songs appear in the lower right panel, not the playlists. And when I look at the Blackberry there are no playlists, just the songs. How do I get the playlists to go into the blackberry so I can choose between them instead of the entire list of songs in all the playlists. I am using Desktop Manager 4.3.0.17 and its associated Media Manager.08-19-08 10:00 PMLike 0
