Hey everybody, just picked up a Curve from a Verizon kiosk in Circuit City.

Simply put, I am now paying $80 for unlimited voice, email, and Internet, and $5 for 250 text messages (something like that). I could have sworn it would be cheaper than this.

Is there anything I can do to bring down the price? From the catalogs the guy showed me, there was no other options. So if there is a way, what exactly should I say to make sure I specifically get the plan I need?

    Cheers, and thanks in advance.

    What plan did you pick?

I am on a family plan and pay over $185 a month, so I can't help you on that.

Just dial 611 and speak with a CSR and they can go over the options you have.

And what should you say. Tell them what you want your phone to so and ask them to price out a plan.

Also you can go to Verizon Wireless website create an online account and look at what they have to offer yourself.

Hmmm... their website lists an unlimited voice & data plan for $129.99/mo. For $80, all you get is 450 minutes.

First potential problem... Verizon kiosk. I'd call 611 & double check what you actually signed up for.

Yes you can, first off evaluate from your old phone plan and see how many minutes you are using. Then call cs and have them put you on a minute plan rather than the unlimted voice. Data plan should cost you 29.99. Nationwide select plans include unlim txt and pics. The will evaluate what you purcahsed and what you can do reduce the cost.

A lot of the times you get better prices on phones at kiosk. I have gotten everyone one of my phones from a kiosk for that reason and I have not paid a dime for a single one.

$80 for unlimited voice (minutes) is a good deal. Sprint simply everything plan is $99/mo. Last time I shopped it out w/ Verizon...unlimited was like $129/mo. + extra for texts, data plan, gps plan, etc.

It's good to see the rates starting to drop across the board again...perhaps thanks to boost and metro PCS (unlimited for $35 mo.)

i agree with cdk3. $80 even just for unlimited voice is a great deal, nevermind email and internet. Im concerned about your texts though because I think anyone with a BB would go over 250 (don't forget that it's received and sent, not just you sending 250 texts!) unless all of the people you know have BBs and you can use BB messenger.

I would try to make it so you have less voice and more texts, unless you're ALWAYS talking on the phone.

Luckily I have T-Mobile so I have hotspot@home which is unlimited calling from home over my wireless, 1000 minutes and unlimited web and text for $69.98/mo. If you have the option to switch carriers I would recommend this to anyone.

I was looking at sprint plans and couldn't believe they don't offer unlimited text. That seems like something so basic to offer.

also, i want to remind you to do your homework and don't just go off the pamphlet at the kiosk. i knew what plan i wanted because i saw it on the internet and when i went to get my curve the rep told me it didn't exist and i politely showed her the option online and got a way better deal. I would def be paying more if i didn't do my own research and compare. Research and be assertive !

I am with Alltel. I have the "smartphone" plan. It is unlimited data, e-mail, texting(mms and sms), 10 mycircle, and 550 minutes a month. I think that is all I get. I pay 89.99 a month.

I have an 8330 on verizon's network with unlimited everything, and I pay around $145 a month, plus a corporate discount on my monthly bill. I think that the unlimited data is an extra $25 on any minutes package.
this plan on may BB its worth every penny

The Verizon areas in Circuit City's are actual VZW corp stores, just inside Circuit city. This is much better than going to a kiosk or "authorized reseller" although not as good as going into an actual VZW store. I highly doubt you have unlimited minutes and data on VZW's network for $80 a month. Also, you get like 2000 or 1000 texts with the data plan, so you dont need that $5 plan.

text messaging is not included in the data plan, dont spread false info.

False info? They are built into the plan. Call *611 and ask them and I bet you they will tell you what I said is true.

    This is 110% WRONG

Texting is not included with the data package.
