- I've bought 2 different housing for my Curve recently and on both the screen keeps popping out at the top. If I loosen the 2 top screws like I'm going to take it apart it sits flush but as soon as tighten them up it pops right back up again. I don't get it. They look identical to my OEM housing.04-24-09 04:21 PMLike 0
- Did they come with the foam gasket behind the front faceplate? Some have reported that the replacement housing foam gasket is slightly thicker than the OEM one which causes the problem.04-24-09 04:27 PMLike 0
- What about the thickness of the foam gasket? Some have found that the replacement housing had foam gaskets that were thicker than the originals causing the housing to bulge out at the top half of the phone.
Another possibility is that the front housing sits closer to the earpiece than the original, so you need to take off the rubber gasket around the earpiece speaker to make the housing sit flush.04-25-09 02:16 AMLike 0 - I have the same issue with my replacement housing. I did take off the old foam gasket, and the new gasket was too thick. I tried taking off the new gasket and putting the old one back on but the glue wouldn't stick. I couldn't find any two-sided sticky foam that would be thin enough so I ended up trying fabric glue (the non-iron kind, obviously).
It comes on a roll (like the two-sided sticky foam) but basically it's just a strip of glue. It was kind of awkward to work with, but I cut some thin strips for the sides and bottom of the screen and a thicker strip for the top. I've had it on for about a month now and it seems to be holding together pretty well. The only issue I've had was that the first time I did it, I had the glue too close to the inside of the screen and being able to see that drove me nuts so I redid it. So far, so good!04-25-09 12:51 PMLike 0
