    Hey everyone

Just got accepted to a graduate school in Italy and was wondering if I would be able to take my Blackberry with me... would my current phone accept a Sim card over there if I bought a plan from Vodafone or some other company over there?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If you have the VZW 8330 listed in your profile, then no. That device is CDMA (as opposed to GSM) and does not use a SIM card. You will need a VZW World Edition, Storm or a BlackBerry from a GSM carrier such as AT&T.

If you want to use a local SIM in said GSM BlackBerry you will also have to get it unlocked.

You could purchase an unlocked gsm curve from ebay and it would work. Key words being UNLOCKED and GSM.
Once you get there just get a sim and you are set. Nice thing is when you come home you can use a T-mobile or ATT sim for here.
