    i have a 8320 curve and att.
i downloaded the newer desktop manager and the vodafone 4.5 os.
    backed-up my curve.
i unistalled all blackberry off pc. then installed new stuff.
    deleted the vendor.xml file.
then opened up desktop manager and plugged in the blackberry.

i was expecting for the update popup to show, nothing.
i have tried to go on the AppLoader both on the Manager and the AppLoader.exe under the commonfiles folder, nothing.

there isnt an error message, just no recognition.
and im sure the os is for a 8320.

    why won't it install?

Search your C drive for vendor.xml and delete any instances you find.

Do yourself a favor, this is the magic bullet.

Make sure you select Delete Vendor.xml, again. It is recreated every time you run the OS install.

so i restarted and did a battery pull.
THEN i found a bunch of .alx files, the kind for bb apps.
so i went to appLoader and went to browse.
    and added all of those.
that brought uo the 4.5 core app stuff.
    BUT it didnt install.

it said the 4.5 core app cant install because it doesnt have some required files.
    ???
and when i go back to re-open the desktop manager, the update popup NOW shows up, but same end product.

In my very humble opinion I would say you have tampered a bit too much. I would uninstall the Desktop Manager Software and the BlackBerry Operating System from your PC and try again.

Maybe somebody else has a better idea?

haha! my parents did the same

They used it solid for 2 months. Now it is nowhere to be found... at least whenever I am at their house. Maybe they hide it from me, thinking I will steal it. (yeah right!)

    Ok a few questions

1- What version of windows are you running?

2- What version of Desktop Manager Software are you running?

3- what os is currently on your BlackBerry?

4- what is the FILENAME of the os you downloaded and are attempting to install on your BlackBerry?

Maybe we can stand back and look at everything as a whole for a minute and see if there are any red flags.
