I see on the Blackberry OS Super Page
    http://forums.crackberry.com/f151/bl...r-page-274590/

that there is this listing of OS's for the 8320:

    BlackBerry Curve 8320
    Latest Official OS: 4.5.0.162 Multi-Language
    Latest Beta (Unofficial) Release Available:
    Latest Known OS 4.5.X.XXX:
    Latest Known OS 5.0.X.XXX: 5.0.0.53
I have found a download for 5.0.0.53, but have not downloaded it yet to see if its actually for the 8320.

Can't help but wonder if this is for real.

Even if it was real it would be a waste of your time to install it, its horribly slow and buggy. Development of 5.0 was stopped for 83xx series (except the 8330) a long time ago.

Does that mean the 8330 is getting the 5.0? I keep hearing soo many different things.

I dont have any inside knowledge but I am basing that on what other who do have said that do, and the fact that there are higher build numbers than the other 83XX devices that were stopped at .53

    BlackBerry Curve 8330 CDMA
Latest Official OS: 4.5.0.160 ESN Devices
Latest Official OS: 4.5.0.138 MEID Devices
    Latest Beta (Unofficial) Release Available:
    Latest Known OS 4.5.X.XXX: 4.5.0.167
    Latest Known OS 5.0.X.XXX: 5.0.0.143
.143 is also the current known build for both the 8900/9000 as well, so draw your own conclusions

I would stick to the approved os or maybe a hybrid. I do not like to be the beta tester or to have problems with my bb...

My guess was that it was the first and only crack at OS 5 for the 8320. I would give it a whirl on my BB just for the he!! of it.

    I don't think that's a good/safe idea

The worst that will happen is I have to wipe my device and reload .161. Like I never had to do that before.

Have you actually downloaded the file to see if it's real? I have a feeling it's fake, otherwise it would have been posted here already.

I have not. The only site I found was a pay site, and I'm not paying for something like this, especially when I don't know for sure what it is. I have found references to this OS on a variety of sites, so I think it's real.

Well if they want money I would say it's fake, people have posted links to sites like that here and they were all fakes. Yes the OS did exist the were screenshots posted around the web. But there are a lot of scam sites that charge for downloads (but they dont actually have them), not just for BB. Trust me, if it was in the wild you'd find it here

OS 5.0 for the 83xx series is unlikely (could go either way on the 8330 only). Not enough internal memory.

Any updates on OS 5 for 83xx? I have an 8320 and need it (actually 4.6+) for the Rhapsody app beta.

    Thanks!

There will be no OS 5 or 4.6+ for the 83xx series. I believe there is an unofficial release for the 8330, which has 96 MB's of RAM.

Thanks for the response wnm (though not the one I was hoping for ) My curve is still going strong, so I'll wait another generation or three before upgrading.
