    Hi

first off just want to say what a great forum, very good reading material, i just got my new 8320 BB today, first one, never had one before, but i am some what confused over a few things, i have searched and read a lot on here but cant seem to find the solution i need

first thing,, orange uk dont offer UMA service at all, so this sucks, so i guess that means i cant use my wifi connection at home for calls etc.

second thing,, is i am connected to my wifi network, although it has a yellow circle next to it... but no matter what i do or try i cannot get the default browser to use the wifi connection for surfing the net, it always uses;s gprs !!! is this normal ? in the book marks i can call up wifi hot spot,, for a moment it usess wifi and says your blackberry is now connected to the internet,, but thats it soon as i put in a url i.e google.com it goes straight back to gprs mode!!!!

    anyone know the answers ?

    thanks
    Nick

    Hi,

I have the same problem with the same handset BB 8320 (orange UK).

The WiFi signal -on the top screen- is gray, not black and white, and it shows to me the Wi-Fi network name. In the Getting Started Guide, it says, in this case, my device is connected to a Wi-Fi network but does not have access to BlackBerry services over the Wi-Fi connection!!!

I called orange customer service and they told me that they can't help me with this!!!!!!!!!!!!

What should I do??? I am really disappointed.

I want just to be able to browse the INTERNET using the WiFi instead of GPRS.

Here is Wi-Fi Diagnostic from the device:

To browse using WiFi go to 'Options', Advanced Options', 'Browser' and you can change the Default Browser configuaration to WiFi.

This should allow you to browse using WiFi, but you can't get your BlackBerrry email over WiFi.
