I just downloaded the uk os 4.5.0.163 to my berry and used crackmem to delete the themes and other files , everything went fine but when I checked the default themes and tty were still there all the other files were gone , wondering why this would happen hmmm. rather than wiping the phone and reinstalling the os again would anyone know why these files didnt get deleted ? and if there is another way to get rid of them please let me know
(crackmem ver 3.4)
If by default themes you mean the Dimension themes, you can delete them manually, but all themes need these default themes to work. Best to let them stay on your BB.
ahhhhh thanks for the tip , Im using the "iberry" theme , is that why the demension theme isnt showing up in the DM and I have no delete option in the berry ?
You can use a program named maxmen to delete more stuff. you can delete native themes. I only was able to get rid of one default theme and still have my 3rd party theme work.
Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com
I have an older version of crackmem and it will only remove carrier themes, not default themes.
I wouldnt mess with them too much as they are needed to make your 3rd party themes functional, although I HAVE removed the L dimension from mine.
This is the method I used.
C:/ program files, common files, research in motion, shared, loader, your OS, java, look for net_rim_theme_dimension_today_310.240.. delete, close, open DM, app loader, (as if you were loading a new app) hit next, and it will say its removing the .cod module for the theme
Now, that being said, if crackmem has been updated to remove the default themes, (I have no idea as i use an older version) and you have removed themes from it before, you want to delete the Removed Files folder (found in the same step where you would click on Shared)
Thanks Rachel and Wnm thats just what I needed to know , Just one last question and I wont bother you again (for now anyway) How would I find out if the iberry theme Im using now depends on the default theme ? I downloaded it from PiratesBay.org - Unlimited downloads! (a free torrent file download site) by the way there are lots of app's and files for Blackberries on there and they r free for the grabbing just use the search on the home page and type in Blackberry
I believe all 3rd party themes need a default theme to work. If you're using an L theme, you'll need the default L theme at least, and you could delete the others. However, if your BB crashes and everything is lost, if you have deleted what I'll call the default default theme (the one you your BB shows out of the box), you'll see garbage or at least very minimal info on the screen. This makes it that much more harder to get back up and running.
Bottom line is to just leave the default themes in place.
wnm is correct the BBDimension themes all contain components that all other themes of the same type require to work. The exception is the BBDimension icon theme which carries libraries that ALL themes need and use.
If you want a working BlackBerry, do not delete the BBDImension themes.
