I have a choice to make. I can either buy an 8310 now or get an 8320 from overseas. Where I live, the latest model is the 8310. Is there big differences between the models, to the extent that I should wait for the 8320? Or should I just get the 8310?
As stated, GPS and WiFi are the only differences in the devices, nothing else. There is notning to be confused about. Determine your greater need--GPS or WiFi.
WiFi just makes it that little bit faster and doesn't use up your data allowance. Personally I think you're better off getting the 8310 on Unlimited data. And yes, the GPS is for SatNav in your car/when you are walking.
i have the wifi model and had the gps one before , no doubt for me the 8320 is the one..
I used the gps few times during my 3 months illimited data. Not good at all if you use blackberry map, you will need tomtom or telenav that are the best gps soft on the market which is at extra cost. Personaly i use my tomtom gps with bluetooth that just does a better job. The problem with the agps you will need a data plan, and you better take a big data plan because the gps sucks a lot! in addition if you plan a long trip and you do not have internet reception where you at, then you lost the conection which does not happen with the real gps in your car.
i Just got the 8320 but i am sure it will make me save on my data bill ...
Now if you have illimited data i guess it s not a big deal for you
Are you looking for GSM phone or CDMA?
The 8330 works only with CDMA and the 8310 is GSM and they have the same feature just work on different network, so the video features are the same
ok. let me ask like this. are u able to record and share video on the 8310, 8320 and 8330? if not, will there be upgrades available so that i can do this?

This is a major point. It depends on what system your carrier is providing in your area GSM or CDMA.
However it looks like from the specs that I just read on the RIM site that the 8330 does not have Wifi, only GPS.

I can view certain videos on my 3210 today. I have a conversion tool called Blackberry Video from here which takes most file formats and puts them into something that the BB can read.
As to sharing, I can copy these files freely to/from my PC but a video clip is about 8-10Mb and a movie is 320Mb so you may not wish to email too many of these around.
I have been unsucsessful in finding codecs for the BB so my DiVX movies will need to be converted one by one.
if i have unlimited data is that just as fast as wifi?
and what about the video issue?
If you import an 8320, only the Browser will be able to use the much higher speed Wifi connection. In order for all your voice and data to use Wifi, your carrier has to offer UMA support.
Unlimited data means you are paying a fixed price for service, as much as you can handle at typical dial-up speeds. Wifi is computer network fast.
Video playback works beautifuly on the Curve, I pack samples of my production work on the device. Playback over the built in speaker phone is acceptable in a quite location.
Using the Curve, any model, as a Video Camera is a much anticipated feature. As mentioned above, it will not come on the current models, but it will be available soon. Just when is up to BlackBerry.
