My AT&T Curve (with the pre-installed OS 4.2) would work with my SanDisk 4GB card without any problems. If you want to hold a much larger card, upgrade to OS 4.5! I upgraded to 4.5 and I haven't noticed any kind of issue with my sound, and I use it as an MP3 player, so I think I would've noticed a difference.
I have a 8320 curve running on OS v4.5 and i use a SanDisk 8GB withut problems.
Adambodkins, may i ask what is the brand of your 16gb microsd card? From what i understand, these cards have been announced but not available for sale yet. curious as to how you got your hands on them?
I think the 8310 only goes up to the 2gb (But, AT&T told me 4gb, but I'm almost 100% sure it can only take 2gb)
Correction,
My blackberry curve does support 16GB SDHC card and its working like a charm. See my blog for photos at http:// basitj.blogspot.com /2008/10/my-blackberry-8310-curve-supports-16gb.html
Here's the deal. Any size card will physically fit in the slot. That's the easy part.
The previously posted microSD and HC card sizes Supported microSD media card sizes here again if ya missed it only work with certain Operating Systems as per the chart. If you are running OS 4.2.2.xxx on your Curve then whatever card size you put in then you will only ever see 4Gb (well 3.7 actually).
If you fit an 8Gb card to a phone running OS 4.2.2.xxx then you MUST format this card in the phone and then you will see 3.7 Gb of space.
If you upgrade this same phone to OS 4.5.0.93 then you MUST reformat the card in the phone immediately after OS installation to avoid problems with spontaneous rebooting and Media Card related problems.
You could also go out and buy a 16Gb card and format that in the phone too.
Have a look at the thread on microSDH and microSDHC card in my signature. Pay special attention to the Calss information too since this affects the access speed of the card.
