on my old dumbphone i was able to text someone and send it to their email address no problem. So tell your friends instead of sending it to you mobile number to put your email address in the to field.
I have been one to go over 160, but i just go back and shorten the message to make it fit. If you are needing to make a SMS text that goes over 160 then you should just pick up the phone and call them. I don't want to get a text that I have to read like a book...and I am sure many others don't want to either!!
