A single Superbowl commercial could have made all the difference for market awareness of BB10.
They did have a Superbowl ad.

They also had a series of tv commercials. Remember the whole "keep moving" thing?

BlackBerry had billboards all over at BB10 launch, and huge newspaper ads by themselves and all of their carrier partners.

    I was wrong.

The second one is subtle and looks like it could've been effective.

Wondering if hiring Ridley Scott to design and direct the BB10 Superbowl commercial make a difference for the better (he did the 1984 Apple commercial.) That BB Superbowl one didn't leave any impression; was rather fictionally ambiguous / fake.

Some companies set up contests for crowd sourced video commercial making and rewarding those that made the commercials that got accepted for air/web play. These days the consumer folk have access to NLEs with experience, and DSLR's that capture video.

That maybe too late for BBMo revival. It is an idea that self-promotes on the ground-field and eventually make way to exposure of mainstream demographics.

This idea may appeal to Unihertz.

    Ya think?

Bottom line - the problem with BB10 had nothing to do with marketing. The product failed because it didn't appeal to more than a dribble of customers.

Hundreds of thousands of devices were returned to the stores they were purchased from.

No. They just found the ecosystem wanting, and didn't take to the gestures. Apple and Android introduced them slowly over time, so it wasn't a shock to the existing paradigm.

That commercial was terrible and didn't inform the user about one thing about the BB10 phones.

So it's smaller attack surface is because it doesn't connect to google services? isn't it also doable by simply degoogle any android phones?
I don't think so, no, because Android absolutely relies on third-party apps for so much functionality, as opposed to BlackBerry's integrated first-party apps.

Honesty, the most secure way to use an Android is to ONLY use Google Apps with an Android for Work profile and a handful of others that are open source and that have been thoroughly audited, like Signal.

Google is a threat to privacy, but is very competent at security.

Every line of code in an app that connects to the Internet adds to the attack surface.

It clearly was by some.... others like Google scrambled to get developer support way back in 2007, before they even brought Android to market.

2013 was just too late to show up to the party empty handed with a not quite complete operating system that was poorly matched to the hardware.

they cancelled bbos7 toolate to retain the developer sphere theygot sofar
which was not optimal inthe firstplace compared to other app realms already

and hadthen not just a new os which felt extremely quirky unready, but all the developers shifted away from bb and not to bb10
