I think the issue is the concept isn't even 1:1.

Those people are not the target audience with this device.

I hope it is their target. BlackBerry can't afford to lose anymore of those clients to another platforms.

It's all fine and dandy to say that BlackBerry is aimed at a serious businesses clientele or something similarly useless, but the reality is that this is what the average consumer wants. BlackBerry lost a huge number of customers because of arrogance like that.

This is what I love about this forum. People who are both BlackBerry enthusiasts, but have differing views on what's attractive and how new products should be designed.

It's more the proportions. The colouring is pretty cool. But I prefer the proportions of the Q10 (and the op Q30 concept). But you're right about lots of opinions being interesting. I think the Q10 and 9900 offer the perfect size for a phone. I hope they don't produce something too unwieldy.

And it's the proportions that in like about it.

It's great that people can have different views and express them without it becoming a personal attack. In some other threads some people become personal if anyone says anything they don't like. Fortunately, that isn't the majority of people here on CB.

What makes it way too tall? It's a Z30 with a keyboard. So they're the same size.

The keyboard only comes up to just above where the Z30's screen starts. It would be a top-heavy nightmare on which to type. The Z30's virtual keyboard ends nearer the middle of the phone's chasis.

Weight distribution while typing should be a major consideration when designing any phone. The Z30Keyboard you've linked would not be comfortable, no matter how good it may look. That said, I still prefer the looks of a squatter phone, anyway.

So the length of the phone isn't the issue, it's the location of the keyboard.

I thought it would be worse, but I would only locate the keyboard a bit higher. The weight should be placed more at the bottom, or else you could drop it.
Apart from that I found it not as big as I initially thought

(the upcoming Samsung W and its 7" screen does look ridiculous when used as a phone..)

I just feel the proportions will never work, ergonomically, with a vertical 4x3 screen. For usability reasons, the keyboard placement--yes. For personal reasons, I think it's too tall and cumbersome looking. I like the funkiness and oddness of the Windmere proportions, more.

I don't mind this concept design. I think it looks different from the mainstream, just like my Q10 does now. I remember reading all the posts with leaked pics of the Q10, & everyone saying how they hoped the keyboard wouldn't end up looking like that. Well it did, & I preferred it over the 9900. I'm really looking forward to the Q30, & will most likely get it, assuming it's available in the UK, via EE...

I'm hoping the rounder edges make it into the production version. Adding the aluminum strip around the phone should continue on with the premium feel. Bring back the leather back and now it's complete.
