There isn't numbers in the millions for any BlackBerry phone. I'm happy to sign this. The 9810 was the best phone they ever made.

    This will not work.

Not enough demand for R&D, supply chain and production.
Too many forseen costs on repairs of slider failures! Even Samsung the king of sliders abandoned them all and they have the cheapest production facility costs and repairs in supply chain.

As skeptical as I am personally, I wish you the best on this petition. If there are enough people out there who really, REALLY want this, maybe this will identify something that BB really does have to do.

Seeing that he seems focused on providing one model for each style/segment instead of upgrades, it would be logical to expect this form factor relatively soon.

Actually 2: one portrait, and one landscape keyboard.

Slider phones are no more. Look at the marketplace.

Well, while I always advocate for choice, after the uncertainty of the specs of the Classic, I might be more interested in a petition for them to make a real flagship phone with a traditional keyboard and the toolbelt if it turns out the Classic will be sporting 2 year-old hardware of the Q10...

Sliders have more of a market than fixed keyboard phones.

I am interested in the Passport because it's different, not really in the keyboard, and definitely not in a square screen. A slider I have wanted for a long time, but it should not be thick.

I think the form factor is what killed them though. Way too thick

I think a bit thick is much less of a problem than a phone that does not completely fit in your back pocket, and people buy those.

Count me in! I always envied the torch and I know 2 longtime iphone users that would love a slider again. It's really the best of both worlds and I'm surprised that the passport was given the go ahead over a slider form factor, it seems more logical than a phone that takes two hands to operate. Don't get me wrong I'm really excited to try out a passport and the keyboard of the future but I'd actually go ape over a slider!

    Q10, Q5, Z30... Damn I love leaks too much!

Slider phones are old school and they simply don't have any really purpose in today's world.

Options to fit all different preferences are such a thing of the past. We all should just used glass slabs in plastic phones so we'll all be the same. Yah! [enter witty edits here]

Samsung had quite a few very thin sliders of feature phones just before the chocolate lineup and some even as thin as the Z30 is.

So no thickness wasn't the issue, it was repairs and time takes for assembly:

If it takes you 20 mins to assemble a slider, and 10 for a candy bar slab - that means it's costing you twice as much time. Means a lot less shipped and a lot less revenue earned per quarter. Add to that analysts complaint g you're not able to fulfill demand.
