    BlackBerry Passport 4:3 Brother-passport_brother.png

What are you thinking about a little smaller Brother for the BlackBerry Passport?

Same specs, smaller Screen (1080x1440), little smaller Battery.

Graphic is just a lousy scaling-job, but you should be able to see what I mean...

The screen size should be not less than 5 inches. There is a reason for the Passport to have wide screen so I will stick to the wide screen design with 4:3 ratio.

Or a 4 inch 1:1 ratio screen with the same keyboard... I would love to see this happening.

    Q10 isn't 4:3 and doesn't have a capacitive touch keyboard.

Why not merge Z10 and Q10 and get a 720x1440 device? Not square screen. A long phone yes. It's okay to a phone being long... but not too wide like the Passport.

This would be a 2:1 screen. I would love 4:3 and Keyboard.

    16:10 would be okay
    16:9 would be to long

    2:1=2
    16:9=1.78 (Z30, Z3)
    16:10=1.6 (Z10)
    4:3=1.33
    1:1=1 (Q5, Q10, PP)

Not another aspect ratio, please. Don't you think BlackBerry's done enough to alienate developers?

1:1 or 16:9. Looks like the Visa / Victoria will be a portrait 16:9 with a collapsible keyboard.

Why 4/3 is an issue for developpers?
If you develop your apps for ipads as well, you need supporting it anyway... and most likely you can reuse the 1:1 art..

I'd rather keep the Passport the shape it is, and just do an all touchscreen variant for those who prefer a virtual keyboard and a larger screen for videos and gaming.

Something tells me there would be better alternatives than a square 4.5 inch all touch screen for gaming and video.

Not if you still want that wide screen for productivity. Plus, if you got rid of the keyboard on the Passport, and expanded the screen down, it would add about an extra half inch of display (or another row of app icons on the Homescreen), making the device more of a 4:3 aspect ratio opposed to a 1:1 aspect ratio. Now, I'm not one to do any gaming on my device, but I do use my phone's camera for pictures and videos often, especially for those family events. Plus, since using the Z10 and currently a Z30, I've grown to love the BlackBerry virtual keyboard. However, I love the productivity my BlackBerry brings me, and a wider screen can certainly expand those capabilities since I pretty much use my device as a desktop replacement for my work. So, and all touchscreen variant of the Passport would be perfect for me. Although, the half inch smaller screen than the Z30, and the physical keyboard didn't stop me from ordering a Passport. Still had to have it, since I'm not one to pass up the best BlackBerry to date. Even the most innovative.

Sure fine but they do not appear to want to make a 4:3 screen format. If they would have wanted to surely they would have done so with the passport. A slimmer 4.5 inch Passport would have been preferred over the 1:1 wide body they have now regardless of the spin Chen puts on it.

But then it would not be the stand out device that it is today. Because the Passport is so different to the candy bar phones and previous qwerty BlackBerry devices, it is getting huge attention. A slightly bigger version of a Q10 with Passport specs would just get written off immediately, and certainly would not have sold out like the Passport did.

I would love 3:2 or 4:3 aspect ratio with collapsible keyboard. 16:9 won't make sense for Passport - Work Wide.
