I just bought a BlackBerry Classic, and I wanted to know what everyone else thought of it compared to the Passport? Shape, hardware, camera, etc. Post away!

Search for Classic vs. Passport and you'll find what you're looking for.

Yes, it's a regular discussion covered very well.

I have both, the Classic being the latter device. It just works as a better phone and pocketable device. The Passport is clumsy in comparison with those metrics. As a phablet though, the Passport is the supreme writing and work device.

I've learnt to accept them on this basis and have been very happy with the decision since. Prior to buying the Classic I was always stalking the forums to try and address the shortcomings. I got over the idea of switching between them and just run both. My carrier offered me a companion sim which allows me to essentially run two phones with the one shared plan. That made it a no brainer. Just kept BBM on my Classic.

I was surprised to find the BB10 gestures awkward to use on the Classic and it really put the advantages on not having a 4th row or toolbelt on the Passport and Q10. The accuracy of the trackpad does have the oneupmanship when editing a word. The touch sensitive keyboard on the passport just always goes over by a letter or two in comparison. But then, the flicking up on predicted words is sorely missed when typing on the classic.

Glad I have and use both. Happy days with your Classic mate.

Wow! Your carrier let you have two Sims? Who do you have? I want to use my Q10 for the same reason you use your Classic but the Sim size prevents swapping (I'm nervous about adapters, heard too many horror stories) and AT&T won't cough up a spare.

I'm in Australia using Telstra so very different from the States.

I have the Q10 too but it's just there as backup now. Gorgeous device but the Classic eclipsed it with the toolbelt. I was going nuts editing text on the Q10. Still miss that miniature miracle. Longest I've ever kept a phone without want of another.

Don't Google it, search the CB forums! Guarantee you'll find a lot of comparisons.

I have owned the AT&T, OG and SE Passport as well as the Classic. The Passport is an amazing phone. If I had to chose, I would chose the Classic simply due to the form factor. That was the deal breaker for me.

I have used a passport for over a year. I love it. However I just ordered an amazon BlackBerry Classic.

The largeness was kind of getting old. It honestly hurts my thumb too much trying to stretch and use it one handed. Just doesn't work well

    My wife loves her classic.

I will update once I make the switch

I just traded my passport due to size, the classic is slower but as far as handling it's better for me.

I have used both. Me personally the Passport. At our work there's only 2 classic and there is 12 passport. I really think it what a individual needs are. We read a lot of satellite images, and read lots of spreadsheet. The 2 employees that have the classics, don't do any of that. However my wife just got here another Passport last week, mostly for the camera, videos, and for emailing for the church and school.

At times miss my passport for the sheer reason that its such a unique device but in terms of useability the classic is so much better. Faster typing, one handed use, fits easily in the pocket etc. Do miss the amazing passport battery tho

I thought about the Passport but went for the Classic instead for a few reasons:

    1) Passport size seemed a bit bulky for the pocket of my jeans which is normally where my phone is at weekends
    2) Tried the keyboard out (in the one shop in the UK which seems to have it on display!) and couldn't get the swiping up thing going for me. Buttons didn't seem right to me either.
    3) And lastly couldn't face the thought of people going "hey, what's that?" everytime I got the phone out!!!

If you're not going to be needing the screen then I'd honestly go Classic. The form factor is incredible and the keyboard is their absolute best ever made.

The Passport is great but you will get tired of the width unless you have a suit or coat to carry it in.

The main advantage of the Passport is definitely it's screen so ask yourself what your main use is, and go from there.

All around phone I think the Classic is the better choice.

I cannot function without the trackpad and the trackpad button. I really want the Passport, but no trackpad is a deal breaker.

I realize the Passport keyboard works like a trackpad---but it has no "mouse" pointer in the browser. When some links are hard to get, you have to zoom into that part of the screen. I hate to use the touch screen to zoom in just to click that link.

With the Classic I can just move the pointer to the link and--click!---without zooming into the page.
