I really liked my Torch 9810 and miss the slider form. Of course the classic has a larger screen than the Torch did but I would be interested in a z10 size slider phone.
Actually I want an edge to edge screen with 4 inches viewable so a little smaller but thicker than a z10. Like the Torch though, the tool belt should be on top.

The age of the slider, in the Torch form factor, is over I believe. Your best chance at something like you desire would probably be the upcoming Visa/Victoria models that will have a "flip-out" keyboard, instead of a "sliding" keyboard.

Really liked the 9810 heavy but nice screen size although the classic should give us a nice large screen .

Yes, the Torch was 3.2 inches with a 4x3 ratio.
The classic is actually bigger at 3.5 with a 1x1 ratio.

I liked the form factor of the Torch 9800/10, but these days the trend is to larger and larger screens, and thinner overall devices. Unfortunately that just about kills the slider style for devices.

If they use that same Torch 9800 model, remove track pad, and use more of the bezel space they can probably fit 3.5 - 3.7" display. Make it just a tad slimmer. Put in a better camera, processor and RAM space. BOOM! Awesome phone!

Yes, I have through about the possibility of the same size as a torch. I think 3.7 is possible.

4.0 would be the sweet spot though.

I've only held a Torch a couple times but it continues to intrigue. My issue with it was finding a suitable single handed grasp while operating the keyboard. There was a ledge on the back that my first finger could snag and hold so maybe i just needed more time to get used to it. I use the keyboard more than the screen so a keyboard prioritized device is most suitable for my needs. If the reverse were true, i'd seriously consider a Torch.

Never heard what the Torch's marketing issues were but if my experience with the early Storm is any indication, BBOS just wasn't well suited for touch prioritized devices, IMO. BB10.3.1 could make a sweet "T10", IMO. Fun to dream, anyway.

9810 still my favourite phone of all time. I have opportunity to have any phone I like, and atm there is no other device on the market now and before that have interested me enough to part with my 9810.
So under rated IMO. Can't wait any longer past classic so I guess that's what I have my eye on.

    I liked my 9810.

It was a good phone but I got sick of the memory leaks and I needed active sync for email.

The classic will probably be even better. I won't mind the larger size and the screen will be bigger. Plus the keyboard should be even better than the torch.

Why would you need full HD on a 4 inch screen?

I can't see any reason that the PPI needs to be higher than it is on the z10.

I used to think the same but after seeing full HD and especially quad HD in action it makes a world of difference. Full HD in a small firm factor would be absolutely wow

It would be. But then I think the z10 has an amazing screen too.
Anything over 300 ppi gets less and less noticeable I think

Will there never be a slider BB10 phone?
I really hope not. It would be disastrous for BlackBerry to build another phone with such a small target group.

I had to get a new BlackBerry at work a few years back. I had the bold for personal use,so I ordered a torch. I really liked it, enough that I bought my wife one.

You were in the minority. Torch didn't sell well. Sliders were nothing but a fad.

I actually had 4 different Android sliders (1 Motorola and 3 Sony-Ericssons). I liked them all, except for the fact that the keyboard wasn't properly integrated into the OS. I believe the Q10 form-factor is superior simply because it is quicker to use; no need to pull out the keyboard every time. The slider form-factor's only advantage (assuming the screen is bigger) is viewing videos and browsing the Web. Battery life is also an issue with sliders, as they can only make the device so thick. The keyboard adds a lot of bulk.

However, having said all that, I do miss a good sized slider with a big screen and a good keyboard with a decent joystick in order to play with all those great emulators (Commodore 64, Sega, Nintendo, PS etc.), hehe. Those were good times. I'm not really a gamer, but I have enjoyed playing games on my phones since the late 90s. The coolest thing for me was playing (and completing) the full PC version of Doom and Doom 2 almost 12 years ago (!) on a Sony-Ericsson P800, just because I could

While you and even many other BlackBerry enthusiasts may want one all of the evidence suggests it wouldn't sell well. Which is more important what you think the ultimate phone will be or BlackBerry returning to profitability?

I love blackberry so if them building my ultimate phone means they go out of business, I say don't make it, get profitable.

What evidence is there that a bb10 z10 sized slider with keyboard and tool belt would not sell well?

I think blackberry should spend resources on getting BB10 functionality up to par with BB7 (ie: custom sound profiles), the software is equally if not more important than the form factor.

Sliders were quite popular for a while.
I think the biggest issue was they were two thick and would break more easily.

I actually am ok with the classic.

It gets me a bigger screen size than the torch and a better keyboard
