I'm going decoration. Those leaked pics with the back exposed did not show any odd components. I hope there's something there. I heard someone suggest another message waiting indicator on the back of the phone. Not a bad idea.

The P'9983 has a similar design piece, too.

Well, if you want even more mystery, a leaked picture of the device with the back cover removed reveals more things so far nobody can explain. Which includes some contacts and a CONNECTOR of some type...

They connect to a warp coil and that allows us to go at least war 4 right now, but later models are expected to exeed warp 6 and have photon torpedoes and phaser arrays.

I hope it's an area for notifications while lying face down. Since BBRY implemented Advanced Interactions, this would be a nice feature to compliment that. Not holding my breath though.

Now when I think of it the shiny strip could be used to see yourself to take a selfie using the back cam. I remember my Moto C650 having one. This was much before selfie's were famous.

Ah yes I remember a similar thing on a few phones I've owned. It worked like an el-cheapo mirror so you could easier take photos of yourself.
