    The backlighting for my BB Classic keyboard (had for a week) works only intermittently. Literature says it auto-detects dim light and activates keyboard backlight. Not mine.

    This is a replacement Classic I have had for a week. Previous one had for about a month but had to send in for repair of loose spacebar... they ended up replacing.

    Have loaded most recent software. Have gone through settings, display options. None reference the keyboard backlighting specifically.... only the overall backlighting brightness which I take to mean screen.

    Am I missing something?

    Hoping not to have to return again, but will if need to. Funny.... for all the searching on this issue, there are very few other complaints so it is either something wrong with my phone or settings am sure.

    I have had the same issue. Tried everything....re booted about a dozen times. Works - than stops...will return mine to get a replacement for sure as it is quite a pain. Unfortunate as I like the device

    Agreed. I too like the device. As I liked my Q10 and Torch before that. But honestly... all phones had annoying glitches. Yet, so does my wife's Samsung (android) and LG (windows phone) before that. None are perfect... dare I say (drum roll)..... no even iPhone ?

    Same issue with mine! Backlight turns off after a couple of hours, have to reboot the phone... will this be fixed?

    Mine doesn't do that, seems like maybe a software issue if rebooting works. Try reloading the OS again, and before restoring or installing any apps (especially headless ones) test it out to see if it still does it...

    Hi, The issue is comming from this touch functionality on keyboard. If you use it without flip covers or pouch, the keyboard rubbing against pant etc in your pocket causes the backlight to be disabled for some reason. Use a flip cover, sleeve or disable the touch functionality under language and input/Touch enabled keyboard. You will be good for good.
