Oh you're think new users, ones that have never used or seen a bb will need to be shown. Otherwise the only people getting this will be bb users. So yes not complicated but probably not needed either.

Anyone new to the smartphone market, say in the last two years, would likely not have seen a tool belt demo in a store... ever. At least not in the US.

I think the tool belt will help those demoing BB in store. It's a lot easier to grasp on the fly than the OS itself.

That would be nice, but honestly, I doubt it. Whenever I have been in a carrier store, the reps act as if BB is already out of business. I had to chuckle when I read the words those demoing BB...if only I could get a rep who is willing to demo just a little! LOL

My (corporate) Verizon store has both Z's and the Q10 out on the floor. And the Z30 is the company issued phone for all the employees. The only complaint I hear is that the screen is too tall to swipe all the way up.

I'm no John Chen, but I'd say that decent marketing campaign to help quell the confusion such as the OP seems to have, and stressing the "classic" aspect along with the new OS will bring about strong consumer interest in the matter (especially the loyalist blackberry users)

Basically, I believe the phone can do very well if blackberry highlights the key and classic components of the phone and but gives it the image of 'new and improved' at the same time.

My local Verizon store has both Z's and the black and white Q on the floor. One rep has the Z10.

You don't have to swipe all the way up to minimize apps. About 1/3 of the way up will do it.

Potential customer buys it thinking it runs legacy OS.

Potential customer falls in love with BlackBerry 10 after trying it while they thought it was legacy OS.

For whatever reason, two to three times as many people decide to buy a legacy device instead of a BlackBerry 10 device quarter after quarter. Being more like legacy devices might help the Q20 sell better.

And the only reason for that was because it was not a mature OS in the market. It is now and better than everything else. I dont miss OS7. or the tethering.

Being better doesn't mean it will sell without marketing. OS7 phones have the benefit of over a decade of marketing behind them, for better or worse they fit in with the average person's idea of what a BlackBerry is without even having to see an advert for one.

The Z3 is the phone that BlackBerry need to market like hell in its target consumer markets if they want to exceed OS7 consumer sales with BB10, but it's a year too late for the funding to market it I fear. Enterprise sales are a different problem where regulatory certification and IT department readiness are the main barriers to change.

It's pointless, Z3, Z10, Z30 are not what people expect or want from BlackBerry, and BBOS has nothing to do with that, there's simply better and long established products out there and that's what they're competing with, not BB7.

They went "go big or go home" and now they're going home.

The Q20 might just make a difference but it might be too late by then.

Qwerty is what thy should have specialised in, every effort put into full touch is a wasted effort and could go towards building the mother of all qwerty devices instead.

And the trackerball thingy is the biggest pile of garbage ever to be fitted to a phone. I and family members have had four Curves and the trackerballs have failed on all of them.

On getting my Z10 I spent a lot of time hankering after a keyboard until I had to use one again for a weekend and almost smashed it with a hammer. Touch screens are the way to go, and if BB thinks otherwise, in three years time they won't be selling mobiles at all.

its a pain to use touch screens for fast typing so unless blackberry comes up with a solution for full touch devices to provide tactile feel i will definitely keep using qwerty blackberries. i had all kinds of high-end devices (s3, s4, xperia, etc) but i ditched all of them for blackberry again.

Someday it will. OS7 and the Keyboard is 100 % great for millions. When BB10 has it all then why stay with OS7 besides BIS compression. Ofcourse that means the world the millions more so untill those hooks rust out, OS7 is going to remain popular.

Why would you keyboard on Android unless you dont know better or are a sprint customer, or stuck in a low budget deal. You cant keyboard on ios. So its easy, and people think people didnt want keyboards anymore years ago....FOOLS.

Its the girly men and the hobbit women who are not bold enough to try BB10. If those chains can be broken, they would be better for it.

Lol having a belt is cool again. so basically, owning a blackberry with a tool belt is the new cool thing

Err.. umm or should I correct myself and say "will be the next new cool thing."

All because Blackberry is still coming out of the gates. It's a marathon. Not a sprint.
