I think the Foxconn information is quite correct, mine also has been made by Foxconn. So no more Mexico I guess with the Classic.

The mexican way of building it way beyond the China stuff. You've saw the new comes units from Xiaomi and Meizu? The worldwide recognized nice design from CrApple must take a look at them. The Chinese factories are made a very nice job and if it is needed it delivers a very good quality!

I love my classic, and it works flawless in almost all aspects for my daily use...but I have to say that taking on my hand my little q10...u can feel that q10 has better build than classic, more solid, specially in keyboard...
By the way, made in China like all of yours...
    Q10 made in mexico.

Is there any truth to the Classics which our government and clients such as Boeing are all manufactured in Mexico like all the previous phones I have purchased from BB? All the Classics the main providers here in Canada sell are made in China as stated on the box. I have stuck with BB in the past as they were the only manufacturer of smartphones that were built in North America.

Mine was also manufactured in China. With that being said, I don't really worry about where it was made so long as the device is decently built and shows no signs of issues.

I was shocked when I opened up the back of my Bold 9900 after having owned it for over a year to see a 'Made in Canada' sticker. I had no idea that Canada had a manufacturing industry and prior to having seen the sticker I would have bet $1000 on my phone having been made in China.

I have no idea then why I was so disappointed when I saw the Made in China sticker on my new Classic, I automatically assumed the device would be of lesser quality and not as reliable.

The reality is that an items country of origin has nothing to do with its reliability or build quality. There is no doubt that if you want to make something as cheap as possible, China is the country to go but it is also the case that if you want an item manufactured to the highest possible quality but at the lowest price then China is also at the top of the list.

At the end of the day I don't see how BlackBerry's that are made in China - a country known for its manufacturing industry is any less in reliability or quality from a BlackBerry made in Canada.

If something is built according to uniform specifications using the same materials - there is no difference. Sure, some countries such as Germany or Italy have built reputations for manufacturing specific high quality or luxury items but these reputations are based on theories long outdated.

I am of the opinion that China has a greater capacity to produce a higher quality item than Canada, especially consumer electronics.
