Yeah. Upgrading the OS means it will load a new OS and wipe your device. Too bad you didn't understand that before you answered yes. Anyway, you could have loaded a restore file (backup) that would only take about an hour.
Thanks for the assistance.
Restore file, but your phone needs to be backed up?
Don't back up my phone but once a month. Do OP do this daily?

i just got my classic, also it's my first BB and link told me to reload sw. it's been reloading for 5 hours now at 39%. hopefully i can enjoy it tomorrow. pretty bummed.
sh1t, I haven't connected my device to link yet. I guess I won't do it
You can use link but be sure to do a back up first. And Don't Do Up Date until it has been confirmed by others

DO A BACK UP
I don't think I will up load until BB10.3.1.1949 fixes the SIM card reading problem
No she's wrong
An OS udpate won't delete any data from your phone if you're doing it through BlackBerry Link UNLESS you did an OS reload (something you should only do if you have problems with your phone)
Whatever I did it wiped my phone clean. I'm sure it said "update" with an OS BB10.3.1.????
I have 10.3.1.747 on my phone now what did it come with?

It's possible it bugged of course, that is definitely strange.
BlackBerry has always said to backup before an update and I believe that's always good advice. I never had an issue with an update but I guess it's possible !
