Well i know we are just 2 days from the Classic launch but how many of you want a backlit trackpad?? I remember how beautiful it looked on Legacy BB devices and made them stand out of the crowd but as we hve seen from the testing units and the final leaked unit it isn't backlit on the Classic unfortunately. Many people will argue that it wont be seen while our thumb is on the trackpad but the thing is how beautiful it looked when illuminated. So let BlackBerry know we want it back!!!!!!!!!

Would like to have it, too. Guess it won't happen, not even with software updates.

Of course it is. But one could think that it could be just not yet supported and future OS releases could change that. (I don't think that!). If you remember, one of the first Bold 9900 updates changed the behaviour of the trackpad light, but it soon got back to the way it was on release.

How about stop the whining. The Call, Menu, End Call and Back Button all light up. Which means the trackpad must be in the middle.

Either there is a light or not. Personally I don't care but if a lot of people want it, they should put it in.

What I am seeing is that there is a ton of interest in this phone but BlackBerry has cut a few corners.

Make it a bit faster, like the z30, give it a trackpad light, which I don't care about but many do, and give it a convenience key on the side and we are set.

I'm with OP on this one. Since it isn't much of an upgrade from the Q10 (at least from what has been known so far about the specs), I won't be buying it if there is no light track pad. It is sad to see the 9900 lost one of the convenience keys, but the classic has none now. Yes, I want the end, send, track pad and all, but I can live with the Q10 and Q5 and my 9900 till they get the Classic right. Let's hope there is a surprise waiting in 2 days, but I doubt it.

Again its not about the position of the trackpad but a feature which makes it stand out of the crowd specially in the night, i mean its such an eye candy!!!. Guess wer not demanding too much after paying $450 isn't it?

There's already threads regarding this and NO I don't NEED the trackpad to light up to function. That's just stupid

Wait, this is just about looking cool? Then buy an iPhone. I thought there was a practical reason to have a lighted trackpad.

So let me get this straight. BlackBerry should put a feature in their phone that serves no functional purpose except for looking cool?

So what happens if it fails to work.. then BlackBerry will have to pick up the warranty tab for it.. for something that had zero reason for being there in the first place.

Does that make sense to any rational individual?

I care much more about legacy functionality than vain looks.

If it doesn't make the phone faster and better to use, I pray BB spends no time or money on it.

Forget the backlit trackpad! To standout, the BlackBerry logo on the back should glow with a user set color or slowly cycle through colors over time.

BlackBerry is not going to recall all of their stock to put a light inside one of the buttons.

They call it the classic and it's modeled after the most classic BB of all time (Bold 9900) yet they don't put the Bold 9900's signature light up track pad. Why BB why!?

WE WANT THE LIGHT UP TRACK PAD!
    WHEN DO WE WANT IT?
    NOW!!!!

No other phone company on the market makes keyboard phones. You're buying the latest phone whether the parts warrant it or not you're going to pay a premium. A iPhone 6 cost more than an iPhone 5 so what if the Classic costs more?

I understand the desire for a backlit trackpad but I don't think that's gonna happen. They won't change the hardware concept for this single issue. I don't know why they haven't implemented that right away though.

It should look like red electricity crackling around inside a semi translucent pad.

Microsoft's original Surface didn't have a backlight on their type keyboard. It was only until version 2.0 did they have it. So maybe it isn't with Classic 1, but perhaps they will have with version 2. If this is the only reason you want the Classic then you better wait.
