My Classic has water damage and the trackpad is useless now, but the cursor sometimes shows up randomly and scrolls down pages by itself.. Any known way to fix this?

Since it's doing SOME thing, maybe slight hope to dry it out. Otherwise you're looking forward to replacement, IMO.
View your thumb print while pressing against an empty transparent drinking glass. Now fill the glass with water and you'll see what the wet trackpad is trying to deal with. Get it (gently!!) dried out and there might, possibly, be a chance it'll work again??
Myself & coworkers have wrecked quite a few 9900 trackpads with water, solvents, oil, diesel fuel, WD40, etc. Only a couple water wrecked were ever resurrected. Fortunately, 9900s only require 5 minutes to swap $5 keypad, including trackpad. Not so easy on our Classics, tho. Unless someone has other solutions, gentle drying is your best hope, IMO. Good luck. Please let us know how it turns out.
Try placing the device in a zip lock bag filled with uncooked rice and leave it in there for a day or two. That should remove any trace of moisture in the device. Whether or not that solves your problem will be known after you take it out of the bag. Also, make sure the device is turned off.

I read that in the past. Heard it helps with phones accidentally ended up in the washer. Great advice.
