Is there a quick way to activate VPN with out manually going into settings. Can I create a shortcut? Can't see the option to add it in quick settings.

    Many thanks.

You can enable it for a profile. For example, for two common hotspots I use, I set the vpn profile for each SSID profile, and whenever I connect to those SSID s,it automatically connects.

Yeah but that's not what I mean. Can I not make a short cut to VPN?

This app says it will do what you want ... but seems a bit pricey to me.

Check out VPN in BlackBerry World! You can find it at http://appworld.blackberry.com/webst...ntent/20399295

that's an interesting way of enabling VPN profiles, but like OP, I'm dying for a way to quickly enable or cycle VPN profiles in my Quick Settings drop down menu. Even if you could only set a single default VPN profile for QS usage, that would be so useful and amazing. It's extremely clunky in its current form.

that's just the vpn settings sub-sub-menu. What we need is a VPN quick setting...not really something difficult to add, should have been there from the get-go.

You're wanting to put several VPN profiles into the Quick Settings? What is the use case? For me, there are hotspots in my town for Telus and Shaw, and I just have the VPN profile enabled for those SSID's. It's seamless. If I'm on cellular and want to enable VPN, its Swipe down->Settings->VPN->profile. For the amount I need it, its about 6 seconds to enable. Sure, Quick Settings would be swipe down and toggle, but since its a profile (with unique name and may/may not get deleted), it would be harder to implement than a screen config that is ALWAYS there and requires no "does this exist" check and handling.

I'm not saying it wouldn't be a nice feature, just saying it would be more hassle to implement than number of times used given the 6 seconds to get there, and its not exactly buried behind 5 unintuitive screens to wade through.

no, a plain default vpn profile toggle would be enough

There are Quick Settings for WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC etc under Networks and Connections, and you would have expected VPN to be in there as well. But VPN is a very low priority. Blackberry did not do it then, there is no reason for them to do it now.
